Media Release

From the Desk of Mayor Jill Dabbs

June 14th, 2018

As summer begins, it feels as if the City of Bryant itself is under construction.  From new schools and streets to new fire stations and housing developments, there is no doubt that Bryant’s growth is steady and strong.

To manage the growth, Mayor Jill Dabbs is closely monitoring the city’s financial reports.

“The City of Bryant has almost reached its projected sales tax revenue increase for 2018” stated Mayor Dabbs. She continued to explain that “ during the 2018 budget cycle last fall, the city projected an overall tax revenue increase of 2%. We have now reached an increase this year of 1.7%, putting us close to that 2% goal by midyear.”

Despite a slow start at the beginning of the year, tax revenues for the city have been steadily increasing month to month, so far generating $92,202 in additional revenue. Four out of five months have experienced increases in 2018, with May seeing the highest increase to date.

“We believe this overall increase will continue as a trend and that the city will not only reach its goal of a 2% increase, but even possibly surpass it” continues Mayor Dabbs. “ Saline County is showing strong numbers, not only in residential growth, but in retail development as well.  We will continue our pursuit of finding the best businesses to fill the gap for both our city, and the area surrounding.”
